If we put a piece of sand on our tongue, would it turn into a pearl?
[My six year old daughter posed this question to me last night. Good question. I wonder if it would turn to a pearl, if we kept it there long enough.]

i answered you on my blog. so here we go again.
Yes, if you could hold a pearl on your tounge long anough, I belive it would turn into a pearl. You'd certainly deserve it, anyway.
Ah'm nod thure aboun dad. Ngen mack noo you in a foo monks...
My son's girlfriend has her tongue pierced. Sometimes when she opens her mouth it looks like she's got a pearl in there.
So whats your answer Mr P?
My guess is that it would turn into a pearl, but it would be very uncomfortable.
But maybe it wouldn't have to be too uncomfortable. If your son's girlfriend wears one of those things in her mouth all the time, how uncomfortable can it be? I wonder how long it takes an oyster (or a scallop) to make a pearl?
Tonight my daughter pointed out that it if were that easy to make pearls, they wouldn't be valuable because they would not be rare. How much would you pay for a human tongue pearl?
Now that's a leading question. ;)
It depends on what it could do.
if humans could make tongue pearls i'm sure we'd figure out how to make some of them way more valuble then others, don't you think?
No.
I doubt that would happen, but put it in your eye and it could work ;-)
