Are you sure there is no sound card on your PC at work? You may just need a pair of headphones.

I am less sure now that I don't since it appears I have the socket for a headphone plug. Now all I need is a pair of headphones.

It's a video of a band called Coldplay, playing a song called "The Hardest Part".

But what caught my attention, is that it also shows the rather acrobatic dance team of Spencer and Barbara. What caught my attention is that Spencer was in his mid-twenties at the time and Barbara was 84!

I found it pretty amazing to watch. I am always fascinated by seeing the very elderly do things that are athletic. In this case, I am so flabbergasted that I am not sure what to think.

Apparently, the music part of the video was set up to look as though it was shot at the same time and in the same location as Barbara and Spencer, but Coldplay did a little technical magic to create that impression. The Barbara and Spencer routine was shot in the late 80's or early 90's, from what I understand.

You might be able to see it by pointing your browser to the following URL:

Is this inspiring, exploitive, or just wierd?

I am planning to have some minor surgery on my eyes. I am hoping that I will be able to use the computer within a day or so of the surgery, but there is a chance that I may not be able to use it for a while longer. So, please forgive my absence, if I am gone awhile.

Mr P; I'll be waiting for your return with bated breath.

MrP; did you have your surgery? & everything turned out OK?

I did, thanks.

I had laser surgery to correct my vision. I was myopic and had an astigmatism since I was about 12 years old. But when I got presbyopia as well, that was too much, so I went to get my eyesight corrected. (The presbyopia won't be corrected, though--I will still need reading glasses.)

Mostly my vision is very good now, but I am still having blurriness up close.

Thanks for asking, L>T.

I hope all is well with you.

Everything is fine except I need a question to chew on.
I saw the one at language guys blog, but I'm always little unsure of myself over there.

I wouldn't mind discussing what we touched upon over at my blog about moderation & self-control.

As long as the subject of fat doesn't come up. :)

I love this video, but it kind of makes my tummy turn too. The woman is so frail, AND strong at the same time. That old lady has been doing that stuff since she was a kid ( I used to work in circus) so when I felt weird from her performance, I placed her in her past and it all made sense.

She seems like her body's memory is doing the act and she just happens to be there. Kinda dislocated.

I am glad somebody finally looked at the video.

Personally, I found it both amazing and upsetting at the same time. I didn't know if I should consider the old woman to be exploited or not, but I have to profess admiration for her. I am always impressed with elderly people who remain athletic.

The video was actually a composite. The band, Coldplay, performed recently, I believe. But Spencer and Barbara did their act in the late 80's early 90's, if I remember correctly.

I found another video referencing their dance that I found much more annoying. It has a TV personality named Jimmy Kimmel (I think--I had never heard of him before) talking about them to his audience and showing some clips from their original performance. Then he introduces the two of them--she is obviously much older. Well, you can see that video for yourself and see how he treats them. I found his way of treating them quite offensive. What do you think.
